2.0 fsi v 1.8T
« on: October 27, 2009, 11:39:12 pm »
ok lads i remap my gti soon (cant wait).
But as my car was tested on the rollers @210bhp with no mods will my car mantain the extra 13bhp over most standard gtis when remaped!

So if a remap should give a 197bhp gti 40bhp thats 237bhp but would mine go to 250bhp or are all remaps set to a limit?

Also is the limit for 225bhp  1.8T engines 280-285 ish bhp before replacing the turbo for more power?
So whats the 197bhp 2.0T engines limit

id stick with thinking its 200bhp as RR's can be quite inaccurate sometimes, they will stick it on rollers before and after and during (depending on map) and that's the figures you should concern yourself with.

1.8t depends on what version, ie what turbo is fitted.

LCR and tt225 have the best 1.8T

The standard GTi's are limited to power by the K03 turbo so 250 - 260bhp ish would be the most out of that turbo. The engine however with a K04 turbo fitted like to the S3 and ED30 Golfs can comfortably run 360bhp ish reliably with stage 2 mapping with full exhaust and high pressure fuel pump.

The 225 1.8T's also run a K04 turbo (an older version/model) which can be mapped upto around 280bhp as you said but that would be maximum for that model turbo.

thats just wrong.

a stage 2 car comfortably will hit 260bhp with absolutley no issue on a K03 car everytime.
and thats on JKms rollers who are renowned for their accuracy. thats just an intake and exhaust. nothinng else

add to that a stage 2+ map and fuel pump and you'll eclipse that. HPFP, intercooler, discharge pipe

I have standard gti (200ps), last rolling road session saw 229bhp  :surprised:  accuracy is not so good

id stick with thinking its 200bhp as RR's can be quite inaccurate sometimes, they will stick it on rollers before and after and during (depending on map) and that's the figures you should concern yourself with.

Good advice  :pomppomp:

ok so why did vw put the k03 in the gti and not the k04 in the first place
does that mean a 1.8T with similar power is just as quick as the 2.0T does the fact the golf has a 2ltr instead of 1.8 not help.

Stage 2 1.8T K04 vs stage 2 2.0T K03 would be neck and neck imo, but I think the 1.8T KO4 would just about pip it

iirc the k04 for the 1.8T is a different varient to the tfsi k04. The k03 achieves the same as the older k04 turbo

isn't the K03 in the mk5 actually a K03s, but I was told the K03s and K04 in the mk5 are completely different to the older versions that were in the 1.8T's
