Centre Dash Vent
« on: July 10, 2014, 07:46:51 pm »
So I tried to add an aux lead to my rcd500 the other day, when putting the dash back the grill on the top vent won't go back on.

The front corners won't sit flush, I've tried putting them I'm first, each side first but it just won't go.
*Edit* Mine has the one with the ac sensor

Could I have bent it or something? Anyone else had a similar issue and got round?

Also if I have bodged it, can I order just that part?

Thanks

Watch a few videos on you tube that should show you your mistake like this

I know this isn't a GTI  top vent but those clips and that sliding action are important also you can locate the vent into the wrong slot!

Just take it apart again and retry I'm sure it's no more than an that! :happy2:

The amount of times I've took it off and back is silly now lol
It doesn't look damaged or bent, it's doing my head in, I need perfection!

Like I said you can put the top vent in the wrong slot build it back up and it's out by a couple of mm!

Had this a few times and had to replace the top cover as I broke the located pins!

Take out: remove the temp sensor, undo the torx screw and remove the whole vent unit intact.

Put it: reverse of above.

This way you'll never break the pins!
