A forum "Mega Meet" / Forum Fund-raiser Event.
« on: July 16, 2014, 04:37:28 pm »
Was talking about this with a couple of people the other day and decided it would be best to gauge the interest on the forum, I'm aware that "back in the day" these events used to be more regular and well attended but it seems although the forum has moved on in recent times and although we have a very active and helpful forum base the meets seem to be spread across lots of local mini meets. so it occurred to me that it could be a good idea to hold a "Mega meet" give us a chance to put some faces to new names and old names alike as well as raise some money for the forum coffers

Of course this will need a lot more planning and that will probably be the point when most people make there mind up but there's no point in going forward unless the interest is there.

Really open to suggestions and input, for me I'd just love to see your cars and have some BBQ food

Let me know what you guys think, and we can start brain storming  :popcornsoda:

Cheers - Rumple.

It is a great idea rich

I would defiantly be up for it and would be willing to help out as as well

We need a mk5 gti events organiser

We also need to get the stands better attended at shows than what I have seen so far

We have a great forum with many members it wouldn't take much to get people to attend especially if a tuner is willing to let us hold at their premises and that way we could buy some goddies as well and the tuner can pramote there business

I think the last one that was organised ended up taking place at Inters last year (or the year before). I think the trouble with that was finding a venue for it.

Hardest bit is setting a date and getting people to commit even though there will be loads of interest.

I hope you pull it off, it's a big forum could be a great event!

I underestimated how hard it can be when pitching a forum meet / show / sprint day so am going to start planning now for next year

 :booty:

That didn't happen........

Anyway, my issue with this is that having been involved heavily in UK-mkivs.net for a long time I know their yearly mega meet costs a fortune to run, about £400 thats for a weekend where we book out a whole field for 2 1/2 days.

I am happy to look into this but I would need a decent list of 15-20 people at list who would actually bother turning up.

Ukmkivs megameet had 25 people on the friday about 30 on saturday and around 35 (Im lead to believe) on the sunday and raffles, prizes etc were all sorted out as well as drinks and Freddos supplied for free.

Would people want a weekend camping event, or a one day only thing?

Why not have a BBQ at Alex's place... AKS Tuning ...

Either way if people want to start putting their names down for interest then I will organise something based on that.

Is that what you two call each other in bed?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
