Rcd500 iPhone mdi 30pin to micro USB
« on: July 16, 2014, 12:43:38 pm »
Afternoon,

I've got an iPhone done cation in the glovebox but I've got a Samsung s3, I bought a 30 pin to micro USB adaptor but it doesn't work.
I seem to remember seeing a post on here saying you need to edit some settings in your phone so it recognises it.

I've searched all sorts of stuff and can't find the post.
Can anyone shed some light on this for me please?

Cheers

I didn't think a mdi was compatible with a second generation head unit i.e. rcd500
Without traction power is nothing!

Seems to be, my brothers iphone worked fine with it.
When I plug my s3 into the adaptor the head unit says there's nothing there and my phone doesn't beep to say something's connected or charge.

I did buy an aux lead that went directly into the back of the unit and that didn't work.

The iphone and S3 work differently - iphone is an iPod, S3 (android) is USB mass storage.

If you have an MDI you'll need the USB lead, not iPod one. Not clear exactly what type of iPod adaptor box you have.

MDI will not work on your head unit. if you have an iPod adaptor it will have a white plug on it?

if you do have an MDI kit and need a usb lead give me a shout
