MFD2 Satnav Unit
« on: July 16, 2014, 07:46:31 pm »
Right. I would like to install the AUX option on my unit. Also anything else I can add to it. CD's are becoming a pain and cluttering up my glove box.

Here's the details in pictures of my unit.

I would like to add the hands free kit if possible too.

The AUX and AVI inputs.
I have realised too when driving the screen on the AVI function comes up with vehicle must be stationary to view video.

Reading around I found a kit that a few websites seems to be mentioning. But there units are different to mine. Link below.

http://www.shop4volkswagen.co.uk/product/Aux_In_Sockets_1K0998940

Is this the kit for the AUX? Any help on my satnav etc be most grateful :)

I have recently purchased a VW Touch Bluetooth kit new off eBay for a very good price, it's the same as the Bury CC9060 Bluetooth kit but without Bury's branding and it shows the VW logo on startup, that coupled with the correct Aux lead off eBay will give me wireless Bluetooth streaming from my iPhone and handsfree all via my MFD2 unit which is identical to yours with a 6 disc changer in the armrest.

Great thread, have the exact same unit 'GTIBLUES' and want to install the exact same things as yourself.

'DANEJD' do you have a link for the lead you have used?

hello, sorry for the late reply. No I haven't...since then I went for a Revo map instead lol Plus also I'm currently on save mode as moving into our first house next weekend. So the likes of a washing machine etc is more important than sorting my headunit issues according to the misses.

I think i would be buying a RNS510 or something to save the hassle. For a start it would have more upto date maps.

What did you do in the end?

Your wife is being unfair!

I'm thinking about buying the xcarlink for iPod and Bluetooth connectivity.

With discount code it's about €150

Will update if I go ahead

Wife...not yet still the long term GF lol
Shes been pretty fair all honestly, she did pay for the Revo as she knew it was killing me how slow the car was :happy2:

I did look at that option, but I like the idea of having the song titles etc on the screen. I don't own a Ipod, never have, never will. USB or SD for me. Plus it'll drive me mad looking at the 6 CD options on the screen and trying to remember what CD number does what control on the xcarlink. Its a quick fix but for me I want it more OEM and long term. Thats just a personal preference. Oh and i'll take out my CD changer in the arm rest and put in the external inputs etc :)
