Compact camera advice

Hi all,

I could do with some advise please, I require a new camera for work, the camera needs to be a compact camera and have good macro abilities. It doesn't require a powerful zoom.

Budget is around £200-£250

The photos are either left on a hard drive as a portfolio or put into powerpoint files and emailed/uploaded. I usually zoom, crop and compress the photos in powerpoint.

Ok, no need for loads of pixels or a big image sensor then as screen resolution is way less than print.... Maybe something like a Nikon aw120? Compact, macro down to 1cm, GPS and shockproof so you can drop them! Fuji and Cannon do similar models I think. Stick with the main brands and you should be ok. Have a look at wexphotographic.com then shop around on price. :happy2:

Maybe get another Canon if its what youve been using, The Canon PowerShot SX600 HS is probably the up to date version of your old one....think its got 5cm macro too....

I guess 1cm macro would be better though? Sorry, I'm a complete novice when it comes to this.

Oooo, that looks intriguing! I assume your using a tripod and a reflector!? If you do a lot of this then I really would recommend a Digital SLR camera body and a dedicated 1:1 macro lens, they all have automatic point and shoot modes too. Though, even second hand it would probably be over budget....
Looking at the spec of your old camera, it had a 1cm macro mode, so this should probably be the main thing to look at.  You may as well stick with Canon, according to the spec I've found, the Canon IXUS 265 HS has a 1cm macro....

A point and shoot compact is fine for what I need. Nope, no tripod or reflector, maybe just a luck shot!

I'll take a look at the Canon
