Help! Golf not wanting to start!
« on: July 18, 2014, 02:06:06 pm »
Hi all, anyone have any idea's as to whats wrong with my gti??

So heres what happens....

I go to start the car as normal.... the engine turns as it should and the engine starts, seconds later it cuts out with no warning lights or anything. Try to restart it then the engine turns over but doesn't start!
If you leave it for 10 minutes or so with the ignition on it 9 times out of 10 starts up as normal and is absolutely fine for weeks and then happens all over again!

As above or the fuel filter has never been changed would be my first thoughts.

Open and close the drivers door a few times and listen for the pump priming the system - remember the fuel filter on the GTI is not a service change item so could be the original!

Is the lpfp priming, you should hear a noise if you open the driver's door.
I would also change your fuel filter if you haven't already done so.
