so I finally got round to fixing my aircon! After researching and reading through the forums first option was to get a new pressure switch! So I did from Carparts 4 less
http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/c/Volkswagen_Golf_2.0_2005/p/car-parts/engine-parts/fuel-and-engine-management/engine-management-switches/?236440030&1&58f82f95d29f1c009ad83a4b4f8656fd0502ca3c&000526didn't bother with getting a new O ring, maybe I should have
but eventually got round to taking it to a local mechanic and he fitted it for me using a crowfoot spanner with a looong extension
I wish I had just taken it to a mechanic first time round as I spent a couple of days/weeks (lazy
) waiting for delivery of a set of crow foot spanner heads, attempted it my self a couple of times, tried doing it from the top of the engine bay but after dropping the damn thing a couple times into the bay I gave up....decided id try jack the car up and go under by taking off the under tray but still couldn't get the stoooopid spanner around it..
anyways after the mechanic removed the old one, here's what it looked like
you can see where the 3 connectors are, covered/soaked in refrigerant?
and
new pressure switch worked a charm, well after he regassed it for me it did
cost of the pressure switch around £35
cost of mechanic to fit and recharge/regas £45
cant believe ive driven my car without AC since owning it
I feel blessed now
