Today the Mk5 went into BMW for trade in while I collected my new 320D SE .
A sad, sad day.
On the plus side, the car has been bought by specialist VW next door (in aberdeen), so at least its staying "in the brand".
The new BMW is fantastic, although a very different drive. Smoother, more relaxing and quieter - its not so sporty, but nips on and seems to handle well! Oh, and on the 30 mile trip home, 49mpg wasnt too shabby!
But big respect to the old GTI - driving to trade her in, I gave her a serious workout. Ive never driven her so hard and she relished it! sounded amazing at 6000 revs, stuck to the road like glue and just felt like she was welded to my a$$ !!
My god, I will miss her.....but I made a great profit on her after 10 mths of ownership.
Although I have only had the BMW for about 6hrs now, I already know my next car will be a Mk6 GTI.
Thanks for the banter over the past months, your a fantastic bunch - especially VC who has helped me out in the past and is now hopefully enjoying the RNS510 he bought from me (Imiss that aswell).
Right, Im going for a sentimental cry now, cheers all!!!!!
Andy
Oh and while I think on - John Clark BMW is selling a Ferrari 599 for £135000 - the salesman who sold me my BMW (Scott Deakin) is also a total petrolhead and let me sit in it and give the engine a good old revving.........OMG it sounds AMAZING....reminded me of my marshalling days at silverstone in the mid 90s (the F1 glory days C'MON DAMON!!!!!!).
