Drivers door armrest trim replacement
« on: July 21, 2014, 10:48:53 am »
One of the issues that annoys me is the electric window switch surround and the ease of which the rubbery coating gets damaged.

Has anyone replaced this with one direct from the dealers and if so how much did they charge (I'd go and find out but currently holed up in St. Georges Hosp with my daughter). I've found this on the bay but don't want to pay more for it on there than the dealer.

Cheers for any info in advance.

I'm sure I heard those eBay ones are a rip off.
Best thing to do is give your local VW parts department a call to enquire on the price and then you'll know for sure...

Excellent although mines a 5 door so may be a touch more I supose. I only need the drivers side and  I may even go for the Mk6 switch upgrade. Nice touch.

These guys might be local for you.  If they are, they collect and bring back your car free of charge.  Labour and parts prices are very reasonable, too.

My only criticism is that they get booked up.  It's probably because of all the customers I send them from here!

Get them from Boldsport or from the dealers. I've been buying stuff from them for 3 or 4 years now with no problems at all. No import tax either as the price will be below the taxable amount.

I got one on ebay for £20 from Germany. Brand new.

Ebay is the way forward for cheap parts.

I've used them before for other things but I've heard somewhere every now and again I hear the fuel switch is one if the Chinese copies?

Did anybody get the part numbers for the door handles for the 5 door from VW? I imagine they're easy enough to install?
