Fake Bankers Drafts to purchase cars were about when i joined the Police in 1983 !
No person would know that they are fakes as they are exactly the same as the original , easier to fake than any banknote too .
Very sad to see this type of thing still goes on .
Always wait for cleared funds to hit your bank account before parting with your car .
One issue that does occur quite alot is a cheque stolen from the back of a cheque book , not reported as stolen as not noticed as missing . Cheque owner only finds out when large cheque hits their account , happens with alot of business account cheque books.
The Polo on this thread is likely to turn up as it was done for profit and not their new daily . The buyer of it is likely to have some legal entitlement to the car too , so then probably a Police Property Act magistrates hearing where the likely outcome is a split of the value of the car . So both victims of fraud lose out . Either victim will have to give the other half the value of the car to keep it . So both could end up with a car that cost them 150% ish of its value .
