Second service cost ?
« on: October 29, 2009, 07:00:41 am »
Just been quoted £156 for second service (T&D) but then got them to match a quote from Skoda for £115 :happy2:, i assume this is a good price ?, also what's done on the second service, and do i need an air con service too ?

£115, is a good price  :happy2:

I presume this is T&D based on time not distance, so your car is two years old?

If so then the aircon service is probably worthwhile

My dealer tried to do the aircon service on the second T&D but mine was only 6 months old so there was no point IMO.

Yes its a good price, just booked mine in for a T&D 2nd one, £172 from VW I bought the car from.

Does your price include LL oil?

Basically its an oil change along with a pollen filter on the 2nd T&D.

I'm sure T_T would say the Aircon service is unnecessary unless you've got problems?

Apparently the first Brake fluid change is now at 3 years for 08MY> cars? (But at 2 years after that?) Well that's what Arthur Prince told me at my 2nd service recently. (£113 BTW  - but I did supply my own LL Oil)  :happy2:

I did have VW phone me earlier in the week about an aircon service as the car is two years old.

I am getting the impression someone is on the make here, we will be changing the cam belt every year next!!

Air con services are only recomended not needed, especially only 2 hrs old. Never use mine anyway, would rather have the extra 3 bhp!

I use the aircon in the GTI more than I used to use it in the old fezza (where keeping it on all day would have drank 1/8 tank of fuel at the very least!).

Mine's starting to smell a little funny but it's due a second service in a few hundred miles anyway.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
