This hasn't been discussed for a while, but IIRC the TFSI runs it's best with the OEM PCV system so just go for the latest part no if yours is bust

Go for the OEM and do it yourself.

Just replaced my PCV valve on 2006.  Had the same noises as per the many youtube videos.  Very easy job although VW parts were a bit slow understanding what bits I needed.  Don't forget to buy the gasket as well as the PCV valve.  Job took about 30 mins although most of that time was working out how the plastic engine cover goes back on. 

Car nice and quiet now so just waiting for next problem (maybe it'll be the cooling fan motors)

Had the car since March and so far: blocked pick-up filter in sump (£500), broken DV (£100 DIY), 4 x Goodyear Eagle F1's (£450), 2 x CV boots (£130), PCV valve with gasket and pipes (£100 DIY),  private plate (£300) and of course no better than 30 mpg.

Still look forward to turning the key every morning.

£500 for replacing the blocked pick up pipe or to rectify the damage caused?

Since feb (bear in mind the car was sold as a 'rarely used weekend car'):

Belts, pump and tensior (£650)
2 x Goodyear F1s (£200)
New downpipe (£150)
New cat back (£200)
New injector (£200)
New induction kit (£100)

And the thing is still as slow as a turd. Can't wait to be shot of it to be honest and get something quick again.

Karl,

You've got to check the diverter valve if your car feels slow.  If it's broken then you won't feel the benefit of the turbo boost.  200 bhp should feel OK! My DV was shot (diaphragm total torn (ouch!)).  The difference is night and day with a new one fitted.

The £500 for blocked pick=up filter included £80 tow to garage, diagnostics (driving around with a pressure gauge fitted where the oil pressure switch should be to seeif "low oil pressure" warning was low oil pressure) , oil and then labour.

All disposable income is now disposed monthly on the MK5 GTI ;-)

Lot's of VW's owned inc: 2 x Mk1 GTI's, 3 x Mk2 GTI's, 1 x Corrado VR6 so I shouldn't be surprised.

They're just the whole package thoguh!
