You can always spend 12 quid on the cable and diy :)  but then you would need vcds to reset any errors that may come up.

I remember the first time I did it I wrote down the vcds way of doing the clock change too but the vag commander way is so much easier.

They rely on different buttons & the use of the MFA stalk.

If you ever planned for MFSW then aim for the newer versions, in my opinion.

I swopped a 960 for a 972 speedo with the newer MFSW buttons and the MFD works on both my stalk and the MFSW. However can only access menu using MFSW

Newer clocks with newer MFSW layout (like you have) is what I was suggesting

This may seem like a stupid question, but how can I prove that the mileage I set the new clocks to is the genuine mileage down to the exact mile?

Take pictures with the old and new clocks showing same mileage. You'll likely input them in kilometres which is even more accurate.

It can always be up for dispute but checking MOT's for mileage can sort of back you up to the mileage at the previous tests.

Ok I will do, my car is in for a service this week too so I'll wait for after the service to put them in, then thats my log book stamped!
