Future ED30 owner from Brum
« on: July 28, 2014, 05:35:48 pm »
Howdy folks,

Recently joined up to the forums as the wife is currently on the look out for an Edition 30, and this seems like a handy place to be!

Its a bit of a weird situation, i'll admit, as it will be her car, but I'll get my fair share of use out of the Golf, as well as maintaining it, so its only right that I have a say - right? :sad1:

Anyway, we have been MG Rover enthusiasts for some years now (someones got to be) but the time has come where family plans are on the horizon and we need two practical cars, of which hers isn't, so we will be replacing that with either a 5 door Diamond Black or Candy White ED30 with the DSG box. We went to view a Silver one yesterday and loved it so just holding out for the right colour and spec now.

Hopefully I will be able to update with some pictures soon with a bit of luck.

All the best
Andy

Good luck finding the right one. I like the candy white and diamond black but ended up buying silver - purely on the basis it was mint and I don't think I'll find another in such good condition.

I'm sure I'll fall in love with the silver in a few weeks and tell everyone it's the best colour!

Hope you find one soon mate.

Word of advice, make sure the DSG gear box has had it's correct servicing intervals and been done properly. Other than that, I look forward to seeing another mk5 owner.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Personally I love the silver, but I would be biased considering my car is silver.

Like you say though Fish, its more about condition, which is why we aren't in a major hurry to go and buy the first white or black on we see, we can wait until the right one comes along.

Thanks for the tip, the history will be a big player in choosing the right car for sure.

Coming from a Rover, your sure to be bowled over  :signLOL: with an Edition 30.

Although you will have to start buying your mayo from the shops instead of scraping it out of the oil filler cap

Seriously though, good luck with your search and get some pics up when you buy one!  :drinking:

Waheyyyy didn't take long  :P

Luckily, my main car is a ZR diesel so no mayo there, and my petrol Rover is sat in the garage waiting for me to cut all the rot out. I'm not helping myself here, am I?!

I'm looking forward to a much improved build quality tbh but my cars aren't going anywhere fast.

Will do  :happy2:

Not very well. We are both off for a few weeks with the money sat in the bank but there's nothing out there atm, apart from one that's been messed with, and a couple of Pirellis. I'm sure the right one will pop up soon enough.

6 weeks later and we have finally found 'the one'

Put a deposit down on an '07 ED30 in metallic Black earlier today. DSG with FSH and a Cambelt change - it is due its interval service and DSG service so we knocked that off the price and will get it booked in asap.

Needs a few little things, passenger side fog light, petrol cap has been sabotaged and the switch removed in the door (apparently they can break and lock shut?) and theres a little but of paintwork needed on the drivers rear arch where its been scuffed and badly covered up.

Only a crappy pic off my phone for now but we are chuffed with it

Thanks guys.

Gray, the plan is to sort out a few bits that are annoying me about it, but I doubt it will get many mods, a nice clean example will do us well tbh.

Liam, did you find yourself one?

Wooosh I love it already, the DSG is fantastic!

It's not hugely specced, just an Edition with MFSW and MFD. We will be adding an RNS510 shortly as the standard Hu doesn't cut the mustard tbh
