Still looking for an edition 30
« on: October 29, 2009, 04:40:43 pm »
Well that is about 2 months without a car for me, I have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for the right edition 30 (or s3) to come up for sale, quite  frustrating really with stealers demanding high prices for them and very few private sales on the go.
Been tempted to buy another Subaru Sti, having owned four in the past, they were all fantastic cars but they just carry a hooligan tag now with prices low enough for any tom, dick or harry to buy one. :sad1:

Hopefully i will be back on the road soon  :driver:

Ouch long time without a motor.

Sure the right car is around the corner. Good things come to those who wait and all that.... :happy2:

Its difficult to say, but when the price gets close to S3 money, ie 17.5 / 18K you have to weigh things up.  Also once the mk6 GTi's start to hit the second hand market, the mk5 prices can only come down.

I have two things on my side, patience and time as i have use of another car.

depends what milage your after but for 17ki would have thought you could get a pretty nice car but you would be lucky to get a DSG or a white one for that money

Not a fan of the DSG model, looking for a "manual" gearbox car.

right, and youve tried the dealers? it seems there are a few manuals on VW website and that way you have warrenty etc, always safer to buy from the dealer imo  :happy2:

they have a nice white one on there but its 5 door, just under 19k 57 plate

Yeah they do have some nice ones, there is an 08 pirelli edition with 9k for £18995 at Perth VW and a few others on there. Is it just me or is 19K for that white 5 door a bit expensive considering it is over 2 years old and 24K miles on it ??
I know white is a bit rarer, but surely they dont command that sort of money do they ??

I started looking last Oct/Nov and found the right car at the end of Feb this year.

Keep looking and hanging on in and it WILL come along.

Its shocked me what ED30's are now fetching. The local dealer had an '07 pretty basic for 17k+ and it was sold within a week of being on the forecourt.

That was 4k more than I paid in Feb (although the market was VERY depressed) and wifeys has a decent spec with Xenons.

Good Luck

Cheers Pitch,
As I said im in no rush as i have use of another car at the moment. The market is a bit slow this time of year so if i have to wait until after Christmas then so be it. By then we will be looking at more secondahand Mk6 Gti's on the market and the "10" number plates due out....oh and the arrival of the Golf R

They've got a 57 Candy White 5 dr at VW Leeds. It's £18,950, but it's a manual (no bad thing in my opinion) and has nearly 25K on it!

They just seem mega expensive at the moment!
