Forge TwinTake
« on: July 29, 2014, 08:51:25 am »
I fancy changing my intake from a k&n typhoon to a forge twintake but I'm not sure if the twintake is ko4 only? I've seen people selling them that are for ko3 but can't find any new ones out there

Any advice?

It comes in both fitments, and I think you can run a k04 version with the use of a bung of some sort but I'm not sure as I only have the k03 version myself.

http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/content.asp?inc=product&cat=&product=FMIND12 - Its available direct from forge but its not cheap.. £403

Personally I'd keep and ear to the ground and see what comes up on the for sale section, bargains to be had out there.

Do some digging, but I've heard negative things about the Twintake system on K04 turbo engines. You might be better with a VW Racing intake or if you can find it, the ITG enclosed intake (which is what the VW Racing one is with a badge and premium price).

Or EVOMS or ITG OR Revo . Widely regarded as the best intakes for the TFSI

Those too. For some reason I had it in my head you wanted an enclosed air intake only... Don't ask where I got that idea from!

As said above use either revo or evoms as there both very good intakes and can be used on ko3 or ko4 set ups and therefore are future proof if you decide to convert from ko3-ko4

So out of all of the options which is best, and will any give me much of an improvement over my k&n?

I'm currently running the typhoon, s3 intercooler, autotech hpfp & a custom map. Not looking for much of a gain in performance but i don't think the k&n is the best choice (plus it sounds like darth Vader having an asthma attack)

Revo or evoms the difference between the two on a ko3 will be next to nothing if it's down to cost go for the evoms

Those too. For some reason I had it in my head you wanted an enclosed air intake only... Don't ask where I got that idea from!

Not a fan of the cannister intakes, by their very nature they appear to restrict the intake of air and the inlets have been known to get all sorts of detritus from the roads etc inside them.

As others have said, get a REVO, EVOMS or ITG. EVOMS is the best valve, ITG has 1,534 parts and REVO looks the nuts and sounds the dingles (although I would say that). TBF they all sound similar (ish).

I agree, REVO looks so clean and fresh in the bay, hardly any fixings etc as Martin just said ITG has LOADS!! But its personal choice really, i went for the REVO one purely due to it looking a bit cleaner in the bay, plus big_eck (i think that his username) had the EVOMS then switched to the REVO and had massive increases in power 9bhp increase and 20lbft torque!!!!!!

Random question, do you have a picture of your K&N Typhoon fitted? Been thinking about getting one myself for various reasons...

Just post them on here. Don't give my e-mail address out unless for sales or people I actually know (security and all that...).
