Standard pads or aftermarket?

It's coming to that time where I need to change front & rears. My question is would I be better off get VW pads or go the aftermarket route. I do 330 miles a week, my car is standard. I cannot identify the current fronts pads (or via S/H) but the rears are T1377 pagid pads. Would I be better off spending a few more £'s for longevity? :driver:......

Performance parts almost always cost more and don't last as long  :grin:

If you're not looking for increased performance I'd probably go for OEM equivalent after market ones (such as pagid or textar etc) who may well actually make the OEM pads anyway.

If you want more performance, I'd wait for the wise Dave B to give his input.

A good set of road use Brembo or Fereodo pads will cost about the same as OEM parts and work as well, if not slightly better. I agree that a common misconception is that after market parts are always better than the OEM, but if you're rolling stock, then perhaps save some money and get Pagid parts, they're perfectly fine for normal use and you save cash.

I'm due a new set and have gone for Mintex ones. Did some reading before they seem to be fairly well recommended and a good price.

If the car is std and only used on the road then std ones will be more than fine. They worked well on my octy with 270ish bhp. I got mine from TPS.

Agreed, for standard use - OEM.

If you're into fast road / track then I rate the ferodo ds2500. They maintain efficiency well under high heat and are refined enough for a daily driver.
