Valuation, standard MK5 GTi.
« on: July 29, 2014, 09:23:55 pm »
Hi,

Was just looking for a quick valuation on my Golf GTi.  Unfortunately thinking of selling it now, the ONLY reason being is ive been moved place of work and its now costing around £250 - £300 per month in fuel to travel back and forth, looking to get a more economical car, absolutely love the golf so it will be well missed, anyway:

Standard 5 door MK5 Golf GTi 2006, 06 plate,
60K miles,
Full grey leather interior,
Heated seats,
Polished Monza alloys (could do with refurb due to corrosion)
RNS510 head unit with satnav

Just looking for a quick valuation still got around £2k left on the finance so would probably have to part ex the car.

Any help and even suggestions for a new car would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Trade in:- £3500 - £5000

Private sale:- £5800 - £7500

That trade in value posted above is way off. Even if it was in awful condition, an 06 GTI with 60k miles and Nav/ Leather  is still worth considerably more than £3500. Here are the values from CAP:

Was thinking that too, I have been quoted £5500 from we buy any car, that was without telling them it was full leather and nav and a few other things.  A salesman i spoke with yesterday (he was an absolute idiot) quoted about £5500 without looking at the car too.  If i didnt have £2k outstanding id just sell it privatley as im sure someone would get better use of it that way  :signLOL:

Hmm well Glasses guide must be wrong at the moment then because that trade value is far too low. Low mileage mk5 GTIs like the OPs don't generally trade for anything less than about £5k. I normally find CAP to be accurate

WBAC will offer you less when you turn up with the car, they offer you a high price initially to get you in and then will drop 300 off the price  not from personal experience i must add

I've used them before they only took a couple of hundred of the price quoted online which I didn't think was bad really. Still worked out as more than I was offered trading it in elsewhere. They've improved a lot recently after all the negative press they used to attract. Owned by BCA now.
