GPS aerial location?

Just fitted a mfd2 into a mk5 golf where is the best place to for the gps aeriel to go? It has a magnetic base but there is nothing for it to stick to only plastic so I will need to tape it on I think.
Only place I can see is to the left of the air duct above the heater vent would it be ok there?

Hi kind of hard to explain as I didn't take any pictures when I installs my one, but looking directly into open space created by removing the heater vents you should see a silver bar which runs across the width of the car. The GPS antenna will just sit on there without the need for any tape, you can then chase the lead around the edge of the console.
I have had mine installed like that for about four months without any problems.

I can see the metal bar but the gps aerial is to fat to fit through the hole as it surrounded by plastic if you understand me?

I thought the gps aerials were relatively the same size, ultimately the aerial needs to be in a position near to the top of the dashboard as possible, so where ever you install it just make sure it does not move about.

I zip tied mine to the upper side of the central diffuser flap just below the vent grille.
