996 Turbo fronts work great on the Mk5 ,Ive got a carrier solution to put them onto a 350mm merc disc which fits perfect and is 5 x 112PCD.

These calipers are very well matched to the \mk5 platform

Watch carefully blink and you'll miss them

would they fit under 17" wheels? I take it 996 and boxter rear monoblocks are no use?

what model and age of merc are the discs off? Do you supply the carriers?

He could supply you with the lot Scott. He sorted me out with the stuff for mine.

Dave these are the fronts from the set i got the rears from!  :happy2:

Edit: Think you might be struggling to get them under 17's to mate, mine are tight and their smaller than the front ones.

Thought I'd sorted out most of the Kilmarnock Massif!

If they are 996 fronts then they could be sorted onto the front of the Golf, we'd use the 330mm disc from the Alfa and re-pcd it, fab a carrier to suit, Total cost for the discs (drilled) hoses, carriers would be in the region of £420 plus £400 in Petrol to deliver it lol.

Got me thinking now.......got some 996 fronts somewhere..........and some Rs29's.......hmmm

i ave a golf mkv tdi..if i put bigger discs and calipers at the front ie porsche  what kind of money am i looking st for you to supply the full kit to me for...pm me if its easy

Nice1! I wasn't really wanting to mod the mk5 as I like it standard but if there is one thing I would like to change is the sh*t brakes :signLOL:

I take it the standard discs wouldn't work with the 996 calipers? Is that the price inc the calipers?

So roughly how much will a set of 996 calipers 350mm discs and pads be for my Ed30?  Do you get any brake squeal? (sorry but one of my pet hates!)

I am currently considering the S3/R32 option to keep it fairly OEM for servicing, but if prices were similar would definately consider the Porsche items.

The fitting kit normally comprises hoses/carriers/discs and normally comes out at about 400 quid!

Normal 996 front calipers have a geometric limit of 330mm, these come in Silver or Black and have the part numbers 996.351.425 & 426, these are also available in red from the front of a 3.2 Boxster S

996Twin Turbo calipers are all red also come fitted to the GT2 and some GT3, they are 996.351.429 & 430, these have piston sizes of 36 and a rather large 44mm even though you dont expect them to work well they really do. Max disc size is 350mm

Expect to pay between 275 and 350 for calipers from either a breaker or ebay on top of the fitting kit .

The R32 setup is defo cheaper, porsche calipers being monoblock tend to run a bit cooler and are able to run 32mm wide discs which although heavier can take a good pounding on track

There not bad mate, there not really that progressive to be honest, not sure if the master cylinder on the fabia isnt that good or whether them being rear brakes on the porsche there not designed to work like front brakes do, but to be honest a calipers a caliper i would have thought. When you want to stop thought they stop the car on its nose!
