GT Front Bumper
« on: May 11, 2015, 02:51:31 pm »
For some reason that I dont know, and which is bugging the hell out of me, my new front grill will not clip in to where it should. Doesnt seem to be clicking in at the sides or at the bottom just above the lower grill.

Anyone got any advise of why this is happening or what I can do to sort it?

Not sure if you can see in the below photo but for some reason it wont sit flush and its sooo frustrating  :stupid: :stupid:

Looks like the bumper is not on correctly that gap from bumper to bonnet should be up a bit more -- the part near the lights

Is it a genuine bumper and grill?

I had a similar problem, best way I found around it was to remove the bumper, remove the splitter then Reattach the bumper without the splitter doing all the top bolts up, the. Fit the lower splitter.

It sounds a little daft but it worked for me  :happy2:
How hard can it be?

It's a genuine bumper and grill. So if the bumper is not on properly that would mean the grill won't clip in properly either? I guess I'll have to get it all off and have a fiddle around again.

Andy I haven't yet. I've not had a day off to sort it out and get the bumper off again as of yet! Any ideas.

haha, I had this mindf*ck, few weeks ago. Bumper without grills fit perfectly, if you put main grills, it doesn't fit, neither bumper with bonnet, you have to cut grills from inside either, because grills are different GT/GTI. GT grills inside has stripes -- like outside, GTI no. Nobody hasn't mentioned it on any DIY.

Pasha I've cut the grills on the inside but still doesn't clip on cleanly. I think I'm just gonna have to take the whole bumper off and tackle it like that lol.
