You usually get the flutter if you double rev, its the gas dumping or in VW recirculating it. If you just do a big rev you will get a single wooosh.
Some intake are also more prone to hearing the flutter / dump sound.

The on full throttle boost flutter you hear is the wastegate regulating boost.

Depending on your recirc valve setup varies on the sound.. You will get the noise all the time if you have a forge recirc with a strong spring

As satisfying as it sounds, I thought that induction 'flutter' is a sign of compressor surge? i.e. compressed air being forced back through the turbo's compressor vanes, due to the DV setup not opening enough when required?

Hi .
Old thread but hoping for a response. I've just fitted a forge twintake to my BWA engine GTI K03, it's totally stock apart from the twintake .
I don't get any chatter unless I tap the throttle a few times on boost other than that it is just a woosh! And darth Vader noise under load Is this normal. Was thinking I may have a faulty DV or something. after reading this thread am I correct in thinking this is a good thing that I'm not getting loads of flutter or not .

Think it's normal. Tap the accelerator again just as you come off the gas and you should get the flutter sound.
