rear wiper not working.
« on: August 09, 2014, 07:49:30 pm »
hi guys,

ive got a 55 golf and im having troubles with the rear wiper not working. initially thought it was the motor which i replaced today only to find this made no difference. the wiper still squirts washer fluid but the arm doesnt move. you can hear the solonoid click when you try to activate the wipers so its not a fuse thats blown. i measured the voltage from the connector and the earth was fine. the two middle wires both have 12 volts with wiper in the off position but when moved to on the voltage drops to zero, which confused me. i know that the boot is closed as the light went out and there was no light on the dash when i tested it.

a lot of info but hoping someone can help shed somelight on the issue.
cheers,

Check the wiring loom where between the boot and book near the hinges. Mine has several breaks and fractures which has resulted in the same problem.
