Aux help
« on: August 13, 2014, 10:02:09 am »
Hi All,

After an interesting convo with the Stealers, I am left more confused than when I set off...

Is it possible to;

Retrofit a glovebox Aux port in my MK5 golf. I have the standard satnav, and a 6 cd changer in the Armrest...

If so any links to buy will be appreciated

Thanks

Really don't know. The clever boys in the factory did it before it left the production line.  :happy2:

This sort of thing is different depending on model year. The newer silver button RCDs (Summer 2006 build onwards) have native AUX support. Last time I looked into it 1K0 998 940 was the part number for a kit which allows you to fit the input to the glovebox in place of the light.

Thank you for this, very helpful. I do have the newer one with silver buttons. Will look into the part number :  )

RCD is not a sat nav system. Which nav system do you have?

I can't think of the name of it, but it's this one;

I wonder if there is anywhere else this Aux port can go other than the glovebox light fixture......

Yes it is, I installed one last year. Getting the pins in the right place was confusing but I managed to make it work using the rubbish instructions provided!

Here's the kit box and part number... If you need help let me know.
