Milltek Exhaust Blown
« on: October 31, 2009, 12:40:28 pm »
Went to get new tyres fitted today and the chap who fitted them took a look at the exhaust for me as its been sounding different lately, and it turns out its blown at the flex flange bit.

Difficult to get a pic due to the location where it has blown but up near those 2 connecting rods the flexible metal part.

I have the Ed30 Milltek Resonated Turbo back exhaust which has been on the car just over a year.

has anyone had this happen before?

I believe it should be covered under the lifetime warranty they provide all their exhauts can any else confirm this?

Thanks

As above, sadly this is a common failure of the Milltek, possibly because they use too shorter flexi.  Instead of increasing the size of the flexi they now include a dogbone bush with the downpipe.

You should be covered but afaik the downpipe and cat are only covered for 2 years whilst the catback has a lifetime warranty.

I think the cat is covered by the two years but the pipework, which would include the dp flexi should be ok.

I cant believe they wouldn 't replace a exhaust with a known fault after only a year. That would be a pretty poor show, but lets wait and see if they do first.  :happy2:

Have you contacted them yet James.  :happy2:

Spoke to Milltek this morning and they said speak to company who fitted it to start the warranty claim process.

Just spoke to John Mitchell of JMR in Littlehampton who fitted it and got it booked in for them to have a look.

Will go from there won't be too happy if not covered as it has been on just over a year so whatever is the issue it should be covered by either their lifetime warranty or the 2year warranty

Saw Robin at Goodwood on Sunday who said their customer service / aftersales is excellent so fingures crossed they get mine fixed.

Thanks for all your help

....I'm confident that if you aren't taking the piss and are nice to them they'll play fair and be nice to you. They occasionally make mistakes and can be inefficient, but so can most companies. I can only speak from my own direct experience of Milltek over the last 4 years.

SteveP was very dissatisfied with Milltek but they sorted it all out to achieve a happy result AFAIK.
