But will it cure the noise. Also is it at risk of failing completely if not changed?

:surprised: where is that, as I seen that just the cam chain and tensioner alone is normally more than £700?

Bonnet open. http://daz.co/audio/open.mp3

So is this noise normal? If not is it the cam chain and tensioner?

That sounds like mine so I would say it sounds like chain and tensioner always better to see/hear in person I'm doing mine cos it's loud and doesn't sound anything like tappets etc

I think I am going to get this done sooner rather than later as I don't want to have to repair a bust engine

If you do get it done can you take some before and after audio. I would be interested to hear the difference.

Also any DIYs for this?

Are these the part numbers needed for AXX engines??

chain -      part no. 06D109229B
tensioner - part no. 06F109217A
gasket -    part no. 06D103121B
seal -        part no. 06E127248
gasket -     part no. 06F103483D

Anyone have a link to a kit with the cam shaft locking tool?

Just listened to the audio clip - sounds like the usual HPFP / injector noise that most of them seem to have.

Now, obviously it's difficult to isolate and investigate a noise from an audio clip over the internet - and no one would not want you to fail to do essential repairs - but I would get a second opinion from someone who has a lot of experience of these notoriously noisy engines, before I set out on PiTY / expensive job.

Just a thought.

Thanks for your input. My past experience with the dealerships in Spain has been poor. The local garages are worse. I'm on my own with this one.

We will soon see all the parts and tools have been ordered.
