@fab5freddy thanks for the response. I think it will be the case with my car as it's a 2007 model. But a Dubai import so it's a 2005 (axx engine) did try switching off cold diagnostics. But no joy.

Can I change the bulbs on them to the error free ones and make it work that way? Bit pointless I guess as I suppose I could do the same with my old mk5 units and keep it running that way?

Thanks
You can fit bulb out error delete resistors from carsystems.pl, for example. I have these in both my Golfs which are MY2008 and MY2009 without issues. Just P&P. Weird that a few mk5 Golfs get the error.

Thanks @Shoduchi to be honest I might not bother as that's another £30 on top of the £25 I paid for the lights thinking these would be a fit taking the mod cost to £55 for something I wasn't even that bothered about doing!

Better off chucking them or selling them on the forum see if anyone wants them as it's not worth the hassle for me it seems.

Yeah, it's understandable. I paid 10 €/each for my sets, which was a steal price. I'm sure you can sell them easily if that's what you decide to do.

I have had 2 2005 MK5 GTI's and on the first I had no errors at all, on the 2nd I get an occasional dash light. I'm guessing this is due to slightly different CECM modules?

I am one of the unlucky ones with an Ed30 where the Check bulb light with genuine VW LED Mk6 lights occasionally comes on so I just disabled the bulb out in VCDS for the number plate lights. When is an LED going to fail anyway?

I find some of the pattern lookie likie ones can be very bright from some of the pictures I have seen so wanted the standard demure look  .

Exactly my opinion on the aesthetics of the OEM plate lights.

Mine is Bit 0 on Byte 18 but yours might be different depending on features of the car.
