A little Lower
« on: August 17, 2014, 12:07:05 am »
I would like a mild drop.

I've been reading a lot about lowering springs, shocks and coils.

A lot of people compare them to stock. But how about stock @ 90k

I'm thinking about Koni FSD/Eibach Pro Kit how would this compare to stock @ 90k?

I'd love to bag it notch the frame and lay frame when i pick the kids up from school but wife would sh*t the bed.
Coils sound good but pointless for me as once i find the right height i would probably not change it again.

For a mild drop you'd want Eibach's Pro-Kit, H&R Sport, or OEM Performance springs for a 1.0" to 1.5" drop.
Add KONI FSD or Bilstein B8 dampers for the ride quality.

At 90k miles, you should replace your shock absorbers too. If they aren't leaking already, they will do within 10k miles of having lowering springs fitted  :happy2:

Will i see any improvement with KONI FSD and Eibach's Pro-Kit. Apart from the slight drop?

The eibach pro kit will give you a 30mm drop and you are able to use standard dampers with them

Koni FSD are very well liked, especially when used with the Eibach sport springs. Comments usually revolve around how OEM the ride comfort is but handling is improved dramatically. But coilovers are at an advantage as you can Taylor the ride height perfectly for your needsnow or in the future. A Bilstein B14 may be a few hundred more but for performance and lowering, they'rethe better option long term (in my opinion). H&R are well rated too and offer ultra low kits for those who like to really drop the ride height.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Yes, do the dampers when you add the springs. I got about 35k miles(from 25k to 60k miles) extra from the oem dampers when I added my springs, but as said, with 90k miles you should do them at the same time.

I've just put Eibach springs on mine and the shocks have 100k on them  :ashamed:

Thanks for your input guys.

The ride is poor now you can feel every bump the wife even mentioned it when we were on the motorway the other day how you can feel the road.

Hopefully the new tyres will make a different. Eagle F1's A2 There are some Chinese tyres on there at the moment.

Im just hope that i wont bottom out on my drive with the Eibach springs. If this was the case how would the FSD's work with stock springs?
