MPG on standard ED30
« on: August 20, 2014, 08:58:10 am »
Hi,

My trusted Bora TDi has gone to car heaven and im am currenlty using the Edition for the commute to work on a daily basis, approx 20 miles each way.

Thing is, i struggle to get even 30mpg - thats sitting at 65mph on the run into work! :driver:

what do the other Edition 30 owners get mpg wise?

Is this the normal mpg i can expect? i though it woudl be more as its mainly motorway driving!

thanks

I know its a different model but the best my KO3 gti did was 44mpg at that speed. Something sounds amiss there. My KO4 S3 also did 37mpg.

its just had a service at Stealth and nothing was flagged up by them.

Could it be the DV that causing it?

Yeah check the DV and pcv.

I hardly ever get over 30 unless I am trying.

Easy way to test the MAF. Unplug it and go for a drive. You will get an engine light which can be cleared with VCDS but if it drives better then it's your MAF.

As Rich says though not heard of a MAF failing ona TFSI.

To check dv you need to remove it and inspect manually. There's guides on here for it.

PCV is checked by removing oil cap while engine is running. If it splutters your pcv is fine but if it runs as normal it's gone

I would say 30mpg was about right for an ED30 having had one for nearly 4 years. As soon as you use any kind of acceleration it knocks a chunk out of your mpg straight away , never got more than 34mpg even on 200 mile round trips .
