Central locking motor replacement - part number
« on: August 24, 2014, 08:36:59 pm »
So the car goes months without needing any work then.....

VCDS is throwing up the error below which looks to be a failing door lock mechanism, i've yet to get a price from VW but don't expect i'll see much change from £200. Looking on ebay there are a couple of new units below £100 but i can't find a Rev K, can i use a new version instead - 1K0959703MSE1 for instance.

Ive (still) got an issue with a damaged can bus wire in the drivers door loom which gets worse when the temperature drops below 5c causing the door mechanism not to unlock from the key fob. I must get round to it before winter.

In this thread I made comment as to where I found the item the cheapest for replacement.

http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,87875.0.html

I've had these items apart more than I would like to say and the fault is mainly the plastic drive has worn just enough not to reset the dead lock.

Now the the terminals do have issue which are corrected by resoldering but it's mainly the plastic worn.

So no new bits just means you get very good at removing the door skin - no matter how you clean and lubricate it will return!
