Worst news I've had all year. Advice needed on exhuast
« on: August 24, 2014, 06:20:14 pm »
So I went on a impulse drive last night and pulling away from a stop what appeared to be quite a bad exhaust blow appeared. Limped back home and went to a garage this morning to get it up in the air and have a look at the situation. Turns out my cat is cracked by the turbo so fun times!  :happy2:

Advice would now be much appreciated on the next steps, obviously it needs replacing but which route I do not know

Currently got a blueflame suitcase delete with the middle silencer removed and one hell of a crack

It's either shell out for a full system with a sports cat but am I right in thinking I would need to go stage 2? Which opens up another can of worms as I'd have to buy a new clutch as well. I don't really wanna do this as I have every intention of saving my pennies to try and move to an edition 30 before I do any serious modding.

Or de cat but I would then need to install a silencer somewhere in the system as it would be way too loud for my liking as a daily driver

Or finally replace OEM but run the risk of it happening again, I know it may be unlikely but I'd only go used and I imagine it's the boost pressure from the remap that has caused the problem?

Cheers in advance someone please try and brighten up my other wise poxy day

If you dont want to go stage 2 id just get another oe downpipe and stay legal. Or take it to an exhaust specialist, get the pre cat removed and have it welded properly.  That would be cheaper than buying a new oe downpipe.
