Update on my 08 TR GTI
« on: August 24, 2014, 07:31:37 pm »
Thought I'd do a new update thread not much has happened to my gti in 2 years due to house major house renovations etc, this is the progress since may 14 to today

Oil,filters, rev G diverter, standard NGK plugs+ R8 coil packs done in May 14

New DMF and helix clutch kit +release bearing fitted as my standard clutch was intermittently slipping thanks to AKS for the new parts

Took off my K+N typhoon and fitted a REVO intake complete with the latest gen heat shield - awesome !!

Fitted a full 3" turbo back BCS sports exhaust (200 cell sport cat) work of art shame it's wasted under a car ! Thanks to nige and Dave at BCS ! Sounds unreal

Fitted a new fuel pump follower as I've never done it in the 3 years I've owned the car 2 of which it's been remapped ! Old one was hardly worn at all, at the same time I fitted a new down pipe bracket ( bush had cracked on the old one)

Fully detailed her today clay'd then an enhancement polish then waxed it with zymol glasur and field glaze detailer , fully decontaminated the wheels and waxed with AF mint rims

The last time it was mapped @ r-tech it got 260 bhp and 311 lbft  stage 1.5( with a K+N typhoon and 3" turbo back jetex) it's gonna be getting an uprated intercooler fitted in the next few weeks and is booked into r-tech at the end of September niki's maps gave come on in 2 years -so hopefully I'll net some more bhp and torque with the new hardware and map !!

As soon as I get the intercooler I'll pop up some pics and my thoughts on quality and fitment etc , the ford lads speak very highly of the airtec coolers

280 bhp and 355 lbft , more than happy with that , niki reckons with some preload on the actuator or a new actuator theres more to come

Big thanks to niki , Ben and the rest of the staff at R-tech for there tremendous work and customer service !

May be worth sticking it in here: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,16977.0.html

Niki's new VVT mapping makes a massive difference lower down

Never seen such a strong curve from any other tuner
