Has been a quiet winter. Not much has been done since, very busy in final year in Uni.

I put in a set of HID's that I had left over from my MK4  So much better than normal. I also said Id try spray the 3 plastic inserts that go into the steering wheel as they were very worn. Sprayed them reflex silver and they go very well with the trim  Should have my Rear Reflector soon have it ordered

I also got LED interior light kit from Ebay which are very nice and bright in the dark, got the number plate lights too, should have got pictures in the dark, but o well  :P Going over to the UK on Tuesday for few nights  to Manchester  :happy2:

Another small update with a few nice touches.

1. One of my wing mirrors was broke when I got the car so the guy I bought it of sent me out a replacement.  I said id try something different and spray them black. Turned out well.. Not to glossy so im happy. Not a great sprayer but id tackle a few small parts.

2. While I was doing the mirrors I seen that my engine cover was very dirty so I sanded it down and gave it a few coats of Black.
Also cleaned out the Engine bay while I was at it. Looking very clean now  :happy2:

3. My rear reflector from R32 bumper has been gone with about 3 months so decided id get of my arse and get a new one  Was very surprised with a price of €16 from the dealers!  :happy2:

4. Had my wheels of for winter so I Split them and polished the lips. In two minds to sell these and get something else with better fitment. I sprayed my calipers Silver as they were pure dirt. Also sprayed the outside of my disc as they were filty dirty and rusty. Looks a lot better now anyway so happy  :happy2:

Been a busy 2 months! Not on the car though  :P Finally handed in my Thesis for college! Also got accepted for an indoor spot at Dubshed in Belfast so im trying to do a few bits to the car for that!

I picked up a MK6 boot handle, looks so better than the white worm mk5 one! I also swapped over the fog light cover from my old rear lights to the R32 rears, The gray on both sides go very well with the car  .If things go well I should have a pair of Depo projectors by the end of the week  Hopefully another few bits aswell so will keep updated  :happy2:

Gave my dads MK6 a detail over the weekend, Snowfoam, Wash, Dried, De-tar, Clayed, Washed, Dried, Polished, Sealed and Waxed, paint work on the 3 year old car is so good  :happy2: Must do my own car soon

Bit of an update:

Car has had nothing new since last post as I went travelling America for 3 months in the summer so didn't do anything car related!

Before I left I sold my wheels as I was just sick of them. When I retuned home last week the battery was f**ked so ended up getting a new battery. Got a new windscreen fitted today as other one was cracked.

Graduated from Uni last week so im on the job hunt now, once I secure a job it will be time to kick on with this car. Im waiting on a few small bits for the car now:
- AUX button for in front of the gear stick.
- Cherry red hazard switch
- New chrome AC knobs for the switches.

Few plans for the car for winter hopefully includes:
- Service & few small bits end of September.
- New front struts so I can lay frame as current ones are to high.
- RCD510.
- New flushed grill in either gloss or matt black.
- Boot pop mod.
- Re-map & few more bits.
- New wheels, thinking along the lines of Vossen CVT(really like these), BBS CH or Rotiform BLQ/IND

Will give a update when I get the few small bits done and wash the car :happy2:

Another update:

Managed to get a good job 4 weeks ago, BUT; I fractured my leg playing soccer 5 days before due to start, Ive been in a cast since and getting it of next Thursday, luckily they have the job held for me and hopefully be starting in 2 weeks time. Haven't been much done to the car as haven't been drove much or money.

I replaced the front window, flushed the front grill and plasti dipped it, cherry red hazard switch, aux button, then just a service and and abs sensor fixed.

I have my NCT(Irish version of DOE) later this month, and I may have to take out the air suspension. It should pass first time, but now I am in 2 minds to either keep it, or bring it back to standard and move up to an 06/08 GTI my insurance is only an extra 80£ which I was surprised as only 21 and now I have a job so be ok to run it as its only 10 min drive to the job.

I don't hate the 5 doors, it's just the MK5's look so much sportier when 3 door, in my mind I'm thinking to put back in the original parts and keep the good things such as Xexons, R32 rears and possible either sell the Air or keep it for a GTI.

I'm not to sure, tough call. Will give a update later this month on my decision, any one an opinions on what to do?

How much is your insurance now? It skyrocketed for me this year and I've no claims, 25 and living in Galway..

I'm with Liberty, 21, 3 or 4 years NCB, third party I paid 720 for my TDI and when I rang the other day to see a GTI it was €110 extra or €290 for full comp, I'm only insured a month

I'm with liberty, 25, 3 years NCD and it's gone from 1100 to 1300

So you're 1010 for fully comp with liberty?
