where are you located mate ?

i have an audi tech who will fit it no trouble, just spoke to him and he said its easy enough.. certainly not that much you were quoted

Heaton Mersey, Stockport.

...and you ?

London. If i got a price for how much he would want to change it etc would you want that info?

that would be great cuprak1... but don't want to waste everyone's time if he's in London.

Obviously I won't be making any decisions until I've heard beck from VW UK first though. The service chap mentioned between 20% and 100% support is 'possible'

Give Votex a call in Congleton if you're stuck for VW coughing up, many of us on here use them - absolutely top notch.
Sideways yo!

Coilies on the front end would be a bitch though unless you have the right tools, and cooler is a hassle and jasons prices seem to be very favourable.

Well VW UK have told me that they will not offer any Goodwill support on the basis that a release bearing is wear and tear. Car is less than 4 year old, Full VW service history, only 21K.

My personal opinion is that this is not wear and tear, and that this bearing is not fit for purpose.

VW can shove my future business up their arse and their dealer network will never get a penny from me again. (their service was also crap... had to chase them 4 times for a response)

My trusted indy will be getting this job as usual.  :happy2:

That cylinder slave part is only like 21 quid aswell. VW & SEAT customer service is really sh*t.
