MK5 GTI 5dr DSG 2005,2006,2007 <90,000miles price range
« on: August 26, 2014, 03:59:21 pm »
Hi, I am in "hunting" mode for another GTI. Can anybody help me either these are the correct price range?

2005: 5-6k
2006: 6-7k
2007: >7k

I know it varies based on other specs but roughly for 5dr DSG are those ranges realistic or should be lower/higher?
Cheers :happy2:

I think 05 is more like 5.5k-7k imo.

Mine is a fully factory loaded 06 with just over 30k but won't accept less than £10k in its present state if I was going to sell.  :scared:

Your price bands are very rough ball parks, in fact you're probably going to be outside the stadium in the car park with a lot of walking to do if you meet a good spec, good condition car...

However if you get one that's got a few bits needing doing and bodywork/paintwork not in the best nick then maybe you'll get one for those kinds of figures.

I wouldn't sell my 07 on a 56 plate for less than 8k, private but then it's in great condition and hardly been driven

Hopefully this will be the last time asking this :innocent:

Is this price sounds about right?

56reg (BWA eng), 50k miles, high specs (everything except park sensors and sat nav) at 7900.

Im at the verge of giving up to find the right GTI   :sad1:

Is it this one? What I would say is don't give up as there are plenty of GTi's out there and new ones appearing every day. Also it's worth travelling to the right one.

It's a decent spec. If it's right for you and you turn up and the drive, history, condition and deal is right then go for it. Any doubts then move on and use it as a 'comparison' car for your continuing search. Don't be in too much of a hurry!

tyres a bit low but generally a genuine GTI with low mileage and nice specs.

Looks pretty good. There are some very obvious and immediate tell-tales as to what level of care an owner has given their car:

1.) The wheels. If these aren't kerbed then it's had an owner who looks out for the car (they may rag it, who knows, but they don't look to throw it in a ditch and say hey-ho)

2.) Interior - if there are no tears and relatively few scuffs, again it's a vehicle that has been cared for.

3.) Tail pipes - if these are shiney, then you have someone who is likely to have looked after the bodywork. However dirty exhausts don't necessarily mean they don't you just need to pay that bit more attention when going over the condition of the bodywork.

If it then drives well, pulls well, shifts correctly, no pulling on the steering, well then i'd say it's sounding like a good motor and that £7.9 is reasonable. Maybe if the tyres are crap and in need of replacing then you can get them down to £7.75k. Obviously check if major servicing items such as cambelt or DSG are not due otherwise you need to be knocking them down to low 7s and maybe less.

You tend to get a feeling if the car is right or not for you. You then need to check that feeling against a list of pros & cons the car has and then go from there. I don't think i would ever buy a car i didn't have the feeling for even if it was doing pretty well with the pros and cons.

yes actually even my wife has the feeling of its the right car for us  :innocent:
cambelt was changed in 2010 at 30k miles though..managed to knock few for the tyres (currently sitting on vredestein ultrac sessanta) but not for the cambelt..
