Help! Back door won't lock
« on: August 22, 2014, 03:26:32 pm »
My rear driver side door won't lock.

When I press the lock button I can hear the lock making a double click as if it's locking and then immediately opening!!

Can I manually lock back door?

Anybody ever have this happen?

Yes! Give the door a few bangs carefully whilst operating the remote for opening and closing,If it opens follow bellow but remember not to re-rock the car - if it's doesn't it's a lot more high risk, although quite often it does open.

First move get it scanned with VCDS, it will show the fault - test it in output testes for the module number in question.

99% of the time it's the door lock module - cheapest place to get one I found is here

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/231105716598?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

He's £110 cheaper than the dealer and the item is new!

You will have to check the part number for a rear module off his shop!

The job at first seems difficult but it you give yourself a chance - take a few photos etc it's pretty simple really!

The trick is to remember to follow the guide above and not loose the T20 for the handle to far.

Very thorough and much appreciated!!

A well deserved thank you.

While I was waiting for a reply I took off entire outer leaf and lock module.

It was caked in grease. Removed with degreaser and relubed.

Put all bake together and it works perfect!!

It will most likely be ok for a few weeks then it will fail again - I've opened a few up and it's either PCB Connections or the plastic drive internally is worn and cause the deadlock to stay engaged!

Pleased you've got it open :happy2:

You were right! Door lock failed again!

You say you've purchased from the ebay lads before?

I think I'll get one now

Found the supplier first class - have even had a unit which went faulty - they changed it without any hassle!
