Very nice! Is your car 5 speed or 6 speed?
Where did you buy it from? I only found short shifts for 2.0 TFSI gearbox and nothing for other gearboxes.
Mine is a 6 speed. I bought this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350614838511. It was mentioned in a topic about short shifters in this forum: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,90378.msg912571.html.

Maybe someone here can say if it's compatible with your 6 speed gearbox as well. Maybe comparing the part numbers of yours and other engines.

Found this short shifter from Neuspeed stating this in the description:

Also fits 1.4 TSI engines with 5 or 6-Speed manual transmissions.

Some really good progress here, like the suspension mods!! :)

Not sure if the 6 speed shifter will fit the 5/6 speed boxes in the 1.9 engine as believe they are different but give it a bash.....

1.4 TSI only come with 6 speed manual transmissions so I am a bit worried that it might not work.

Thanks Jay!

Talked with my mechanic and he advised me to return the generic short shifter. Personally he thinks a good driver can shift fast enough with a normal shifter and the risk of mis-shifting and ruining the gearbox with the short shifter doesn't compensate.

He told me the short shifter would fit, and since he fitted the Sachs reinforced clutch he must know what's my gearbox like.

I'm going to order the OEM "short" shifter from the GTI Ed. 30/R32 (8J0711046E) and the metal side to side bracket part from the Leon (1J0711202J) and whashers (1J0711067L). Adding the 42 DD bushes should do be enough.

Also, today ordered from deAutoKey a complete interior LED kit. It's my first buy from the USA. Their LED keep the dimming effect that I like in the interior lighting.

You can try contacting Neuspeed to see if they can confirm which short shifter fits your 1.4 TSI or you can check your part to see what's the shape. I only know 2 possible shapes, but I'm no mechanic.

I hope that this is my last posted picture here of the whole car without a new set of wheels.

Forgot to say that Thursday I finally had the chance to go to my tuner, that is 200 miles away from me, to adjust the remap and now I have a much better throttle response from low rpms and no smoke at high rpms.  :jumpmove:

I just had to arrive around 14h so I made 50 mpg to get there in 3h45 and since I didn't want to return home too late I took 2h35 going only on the highway returning 43 mpg.

The overall consumption corresponds to 39 liters of diesel looking at the PolarFis Adv. so my board computer is now pretty accurate. When I had only stage 1 tune from another company I could easily reach near 70 mpg but I'm not sure if that was really accurate. Seemed to good to be true. I never checked it with PolarFis or any other method so I'll never clarify that doubt.

That's such a neat job. I've recently bought a reflex silver GT tdi 140 (already been remapped) and want to do a lot of the same mods  :happy2:

I'm waiting for the new year due to a coming change in taxes and I'm going for the OZ Ultraleggera 8Jx18'' 5x112 ET45 Matte Graphite Silver.

When I searched for a new set I looked mostly for a lightweight wheel with appealing design that I could afford. I think these fit the requirements.

I remembered that friend who retrofitted the OPS sensors and RVC made a short youtube video of the process. It has been +2 years and at the time my Golf still had the GTI front splitter and rear valance.

I hope you'll like it.

Watching the video carefully noticed that my shifter isn't like what I expected. It's like the ones from the 5 speed gear boxes. I'm glad I've returned the other 6 speed generic short shifter... :ashamed:

I'll have to reconsider the shifter upgrade. Neuspeed sells a short shifter but it's too expensive IMO (£140.26+shipping). I think I can still fit the 42 DD bushes for 5 speed gear boxes.

I hope this kit fits: http://www.awesomegti.com/car/vw/golfmk5/42-draft-vw-shifter-bushing-kit-mk5-5s-my06-07.

After getting a remap adjustment here's the outcome.

Old map vs adjusted map:

The bum dyno already suspected these results.

On another note found an OEM short shifter for my gear box. It's from the Audi TT with 5 speed:  8J0711046D.

Still have to ask for it's price to see if it's worth it.
