Engine oil pressure light please help
« on: August 27, 2014, 08:15:03 pm »
Had a bit of on going problem with my oil pressure light coming in and off, started couple months ago, when on day it started coming on and off, so sprayed sump sensor connection with electrical cleaner and all was fine so i cast it from mind!
Dash has popped up again with switch off engine oil pressure.
Have been out this morning spayed sump again, but still
Flashing oil light and thevoil pressure message, checked the oil and its fine,
Changed the pick up pipe a couple if months ago.
Just put new oil pressure sensor in it (genuine)
Still the same.
Had it vcds checked, no codes relating to the oil found.

Going to see if i can get sump sensor tomorrow,
How likely is it for oil pump to have gone?
Would the sump sensor play apart in the oil pressure? As i thought it was just a level sensor,
I have scoured google today trying to find out info on the oil pressure.
One i did come across was that there was a bad connection to the clocks/cluster causing the oil message to come on??
The other night my display did go completly off fir 10mins or so

If that was me I would be removing and refitting my cluster just because of what you've experienced before looking at sending anymore money!

I would imagine oil pump issues would result in very poor running of your engine and quickly lead to internal damage. If you've fault code read and nothing came up, along with the heads up cluster playing up, its very likely this is the fault.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Car runs perfectly fine, sounds alittle loud on start up, until choke dies down but has always sounded like that, my mate reckons thats a hydralic something i did change the cam follower the day before the oil pressure warning flagged up, but i dont see how this has anything to do with the oil pressure side of things?
Clocks will be getting removed and refitted invthe morning
