VCDS - Fault Codes P3137 and P2008
« on: August 29, 2014, 01:08:47 pm »
Just had a GTi scanned by VCDS that im looking at buying, two fault codes have come back P3137 and P2008.

The place that scanned them didnt seem too bothered by these and said that it could be as simple as a dirty air filter or could be the inlet flap motor.  But again not to worry too much about them.

I would need to drive the car home over 300 miles and wondered what other people thought on this?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

For P3137 see this link http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/19593/P3137/012599
If the garage has vcds then let them do the basic setting as it could be you need a new flapper motor if the settings can't be completed. iirc a new motor cost around £150 from VW

For P2008 there is no wiki article.

Is this fault something that would cause engine failure or something serious at least, or how would this become apparent from day to day use.

Fault usually found by scanning. You should be ok to drive it as it tends to be needed when the car is cold.

Thanks for the reply.  Just a bit worried about the 300 mile drive home.

Had a quick look through Google there and some people seem to be able to remove this fault with a simple reset through VCDS.  Alternatively the motor may need to be replaced.  Is the price you said (£150) just for the motor or is that including VW fitting?

Thanks again for your help.

Price is just for a new motor, fitting is extra...

If you are good with DIY you can fit it yourself but you will need a vcds cable to perform a basic setting on the new motor. The "simple reset" you read about is called a vcds basic setting.
