+ 1 for throttle body.
Had exactly this with mine a few weeks ago. Old TB was made by VDO and the new one was a Continental part. To date my servicing agent hadn't seen a Continental part fail but has seen numerous VDO parts fail. He or I aren't claiming anything by this, just an observation.

Just done it again on the motorway just dabbed the throttle and lost power. Its a vdo part on there i think. They ent cheap though are they.

Yep got to be throttle body for me. Mine went about a month ago with exactly the same symptoms. Got my rev Q from eBay off a 2012 audi for £35

Fitted new plugs and gave the car a good thrashing and diddent miss a beat. No limp mode so hopefully i got away with just fitting plugs.
