Replacing Cruise Stalk for new Part Number?

Now, having searched endlessly I cannot find the answer to the question I am looking for - My car is a 2005 Mk5 GTi DSG with cruise control already fitted 
The stalk that is currently on my car doesnt work (wires are damaged/cut). The Part No. for this I believe is 1K0 953 513 A
I want to purchase a new stalk which will be 1K0 953 513 G

Am I right in thinking the part number of the new stalk will plug and play with my vehicle? its simply an updated part number? or is the part I am looking at for a different car?

Also, I am hoping no programming/coding is required (with VCDS) in order to fit the new stalk - if anyone can confirm it will be much appreciated

Finally got my cruise control working again now  Took my friend (VAG/BMW specialist) 20 minutes to fit considering he hasn't done one - pretty quick!

Ended up buying the following item:

They sell on ebay for £32.85 including postage, however I decided to pop over and collect it myself and charged me £28.80 inc VAT.
Got a long drive to scotland on friday so cruise control will be most useful
