Best pre wash cleaner spray
« on: September 05, 2014, 02:13:55 pm »
Hi I have a pressure washer but dont want to get the lance yet. Therefore I would rather use just a pre wash spray.

I have been using this: http://www.halfords.com/motoring/cleaning-products/shampoo/demon-machine-rapid-dirt-shifter-1l

But I have found it not to be effective. The car is candy white and when used we have to end up using a sponge to agitate the dirt which scratches the paint  :indifferent: Can anyone recommend any good brands for pre washing the car please.

Thank you.

I use this http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/valeting-and-bulk/valet-pro-citrus-pre-wash/prod_728.html in one of these bottles http://goo.gl/WavFpK.  It actually works really well and can dilute it to your requirements.

I use the cheap one I put above in my last post.  A "foam sprayer" one would be best though but I've never had a problem with that one.  I think you're suppose to rinse the car 1st but I found with my bottle it seems to work better without rinsing first.

Would you use a foam lance and pre wash after this or is it instead of?

If you are using a sponge that will be a large part of where you are going wrong and ending up marring your paintwork. Use a lambswool or synthetic 'lambswool' mitt or at the very least a microfibre cloth. That way dirt is lifted up into the mitt or cloth, rather than getting trapped between the sponge and your paintwork and used as rubbing compound...

What dilution ratio are people using with the VP Citrus? 1-10 sound about right?
