Knocking noise
« on: November 05, 2009, 12:16:17 pm »
Hi guys, I went to see jayz last night with tom and on the way back I had a blow out on the front. Nothing too dramatic, a bit scary though. Anyway I managed to limp 4 miles down the hard shoulder and pull off at the services on the m6. The tyre was completely knackered, a gash all the way around the circumference on the inside seperating the sidewall from the tread. The tyre heals together though and my alloy wheel and arch etc are fine

As the front wheel blew I took a rear wheel off the rear and put the spare on the rear. Earlier this morning that was fine and I carried on with my journey home and got there at 5.45am after setting off at 10.45pm!

At 8am I had to drop Steph off at work and noticed the car felt awful! When I put full lock on each way, I get a horrible juddering. Also going round corners is cringe worthy, it feels like the wheel is catching something or the ESP is cutting in. It also catches/ judders with ESP off. I'm of to get the tracking looked at now but I wondered if anyone has had this before?

Feels like I'm drivng a cut and shut!! Lol

is this not just a cause by having mismatched tyres?

you just said you had a space saver on the back?

Take it to a garage and they will tell you straight away!

You did a decent job on that hooker in the boot, didn't you? Get out to the moors pronto.

Sheesh, I told you to use a claw hammer...
Sideways yo!

Maybe some tyre is lodged somewhere? do you have access to a ramp to see if you can spin the wheel freely without any noise when its in the air?

its the front that is making funny noises, and there's two alloys on the fronts. The space saver is on the back and is running fine.

Ive just been to my tyre place and my new tyres will be in at 2ish. I ordered them at 8. So they are doing it in one hit.

haha good one mike. Just so everyone knows I'm not in the business of running hookers over on the m6 at 4 in the morning! Steph wouldn't have been best pleased!

I'm going to my tyre place at 2 so I'll have a better idea then! Typically, when I got to the tyre place about 10 mns ago it stopped catching and hasn't done all the way home! WTF? Bit worrying!

Very odd, nothing stuck in the tread. Gutting and expensive. Bet Jayz was good.
