seat mod
« on: September 07, 2014, 01:10:10 pm »
Hi guys
Is it possible to swap parts from a 4dr seat to a 3dr seat?
(the only reason is that I have been holding out for a set that was in the 'for sale' section but the seller has been
how can I put it not very helpful in fact he has d**ked me about for 2 weeks no return calls/messages
I had even offered to send deposit and drive 450 miles to pick the up!!! to save him any hassle
I'm really p***ed off with a so called 'fellow member of this site' total waste of space !!!!!)
sorry rant over
I'm looking to modify my non electric/heated to full electric/heated
I have sourced a set of 4dr electric seats and was looking to swap over the gubbings
I know it wouldn't be a 5min job winter project
cheers
Stu

Those are a very nice set of leather seats, although I think the OP was after fully electrically operated seats? Pretty rare option I think.
I am sure that electrics could be transferred from 5dr seats to 3dr as the electrics are limited to the base of the seat, I just reckon it would be a very fiddly job!

Just looking at the part numbers and all that there is no info saying 2 door or 4 door where as the manual seats do have this info, there fore and I'm taking a wild guess here, I'd say electric seats were only available on 4 door cars (no doubt someone will prove me wrong) so its going to be quite a hard conversion, but when did things like that stop us, good luck with it sounds like something I'd do mate

Iv had a three door seat apart recently and think you may have a problem with the acces to the rear. The release cable wouldn't be able to function to tip the seat forward to allow acces to rear. I'm probably wrong but I recall that could be an MOT issue, unless you take the rear bench etc out.

thanks for the replies guys
it looks like a no hoper
I was not sure it would work, was going to buy a set off Eccleshall  :notworthy:
which looked a very good buy but I think I might have 'bitten off' more than I could chew
my apologizes to Eccleshall for not taken up his offer
I'll just have to wait for a 3dr set to come along
