Full Body Colour Kit - How Much?

I met with a guy last week who was buying my old switches for his current mk5 and he works in car respraying.

I'm looking to buy the following bumper http://www.ppcgb.com/products/ppc-gti-exhaust-r32-look-rear-bumper-with-reflectors-fntng005

I then asked him how much to colour code my 2 skirts, front splitter and the new bumper above and he quoted me €250 which is very reasonable.

From old posts I see the current GTI textured side skirts I have require sanding down no?

I think this guy just intends on spraying all 4 pieces with a few coats and sending me on my way!

Can anyone advise me on this?
Do skirts need sanding down?
Will bumper need work?
Do I need to colour code anything else?

And most importantly, he will need all pieces for 3 days. I'll be ok to drive around without skirts and a front splitter for 3 days right?

I was quoted £650 to remove, sand, paint and refit the sideskirts, splitter and rear bumper. I know the guy does very good work.

R32 skirts are smooth and colour coded..
Gti skirts are textured and unpainted.
Sanding down gti ones wont look good unless it's done properly.

I'll answer (best I can) in order of your Q's...

Buying non-VW bumpers can mean a bit of modification to get the fit perfect, but nothing major. I'd check that replica has a heat shield about the exhaust area, as the genuine R32 has a centre mounted shield. Not really worth worrying about, but my girlfriends exhaust is millimetres from the lower valance, so glad its there!

I believe they would unless you get R32 skirts, which are smooth already. You'll want some 3M adhesive tape if you're going to fit yourself, see how-to guides on that.

Colour coding parts is preference, so if you think it needs more then do it.

I paid £300 for colour coding front splitter, side skirts and lower part of the rear bumper on my GTI. Left  my car at the body shop for a few days and the job was spot on.
