Limp mode question.
« on: September 09, 2014, 04:18:49 pm »
I'm having an EGR delete and EGR cooler fitted/removed in a few weeks and somebody has just told me my car will go into limp mode if I don't have it remapped straight away. Is this true? I won't be having a remap done for atleast another year, and I know the engine management light will come on and will only go off if remapped. I don't mind the light, but obviously don't want my car going into limp mode.  The car in question is a 2.0 TDI PD 140 BKD with nearly 90,000 miles.

Thanks.

It's not true. I have been running egr delete on my bkd for a while now, not mapped out, no issues.
Limp mode on bkd is usually causes by sticking vanes on the vnt turbo.

You may get the EM light come up as it monitors the flow through the EGR somehow but nothing to worry about.
