Getting to the bulb is easy, push the mirrot forward towards the front of the car (opposite to folding) and you will see a screw to remove and then they flick out.

Not sure about LED's, I swapped one of mine once with a white looking bulb and then it didnt work - VW ended up swapping the door control module, I dont think the bulb did anything but I didnt touch them again.

They are the same as the sidelight ones but don't need resistors  :happy2:

They will still show an error in VCDS but work fine unlike the normal LED ones for the sidelights

I have noticed more and more Beemers with the brighter number plate bulbs, are these freely available?
would be interested in the puddle lights to.

IIRC the BMW ones are built-in to the bulb holder.

However there are plenty of LED's available now with the resistors built-in to stop the car triggering the bulb out feature, including the ones for the number plate lights.

I bought some philips ultra white side lights off ebay for £3.99 and they work a treat. They do not show a bulb out and the car has been scanned using VCDS and it shows no fault codes for them. These surely wont have resisters in for that price will they.   :happy2:
