So since changing the wheels and number plate I've decided to tidy up a few bits that needed attention, also finish off the new look.

Genuine Mercedes edition 1 centre caps, silver dust caps with Mercedes logo.

All new front grilles as mine were tired and looking shabby.

Would like to have left the number plate off but why give the police an excuse to pull me.

Put on some carbon mirrors and gave it a good clean inside and out.

Also had new RS3 top mounts fitted and tracking done, got a few more bits to do in the next couple of weeks.

Loving the wheels, work really well with the colour. It's crazy but less really is more with the mk5/6 platform GTI's, few little subtle tweaks work wonders.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Cheers, I totally agree with that you don't need to go overboard just a few nice touches to make the best of these cars.

Forgot to add also I got some custom wheel badges made up which I collected yesterday.

I think they really finish the wheel off and give it a touch more colour which it needed, I had some silver ones made up as well because I wasn't sure which would work best but when I saw the reds I knew immediately I wanted them on.

Glad you changed the chrome mirrors  :signLOL:

Thanks mate, yeah I always thought the chrome mirrors were a bit borderline chavy, but these suit the car much better with the new colour scheme now for me.

Thanks mate, shame I was too busy to have a good look at yours and chat a bit more, I managed to just finish those 2 cars in the end  :jumpmove:

Are your Mercedies C63 wheels staggered widths and offset? I'm looking at sets on eBay and can only find staggered sets so wondering whether it's worth trying to bide my time and get 4 that are 19x8" ET45 rather than having wider rears but I'm not overly fussed.

Yeah they're 8J ET45 fronts and 9J ET54 rears, with a 225 tyre and a 5mm spacer they fit perfectly. With an 11mm (as low as mine is) they rubbed and with no spacer they're quite close to the suspension on the inside but still cleared safely. I thought about trying 8mm spacers a few times but I'm pretty sure it'll rub.

Is that a 225 tyre and 5mm spacer all round? Or just up front to clear the TTRS brakes?

Oh sorry I meant the rears, they just clear the brakes but literally can't fit a once folded piece of paper in the gap so I chucked a 3mm spacer on there.
So;
Front: 8J ET45, 3mm spacer, 225 tyre, arches needed rolling with the 40ish mm drop
Rear 9J ET54, 5mm spacer, 225 tyre, no work needed.

So ive done a few more bits this last week, got some new exhaust tips, painted the hubs black, fitted a GTI footrest plates and will be giving her a good clean tomorrow.

I had the exhaust replaced about a year ago but the left tip had gone golden with brown spots all over it so I took it back and they replaced it for free no argument. Great service from Style Dynamics as usual, would highly reccomend them to anyone in the Hayes/ Uxbridge/ Berkshire West London area.

The Hubs are very orange and its been annoying me for a while so I decided to paint them Black

Havnt got any photos with the wheels back on because its sitting on the ramp drying overnight at the moment. Good to give her some loving on there for once instead of somebody else's car.

Makes my life so much easier having access to this thing, I fitted the footrest but forgot to take photos. Will probably give her a good clean tomorrow and take some proper photos now I've done all these bits. Got a few maintanence jobs to do and then leave it for a while..... Not  :rolleye:

Ah, thanks for the info. They certainly look the part but I'm not sure if I'd need to do any arch work if I drop my Golf R by 20mm but it sits lower anyway so need to do some maths. Also, do you need spigot rings for the centre bore?

You can't be to fat from me, I live in Northwood during the week. :happy2:

Oh you're only like 40 mins from me then, yeh you need spigot rings, i just bought some of ebay for £5 and they were spot on. I've been reading about you selling up for a MK6R so have you already got one then? Which colour did you get?
