Smallish update:

4x new Michelin Super Sports fitted a few days ago

Also got some heat reflective tape and a Garage Midnight heat shield for the intake.

How is the heat shield held on? I cant seem to get my head around it by looking at your pictures  :rolleye:

Is it just held on by the 2 rubber grommets that go in the mounts for the engine cover? Or do you need to remove the mounts for the heat shield to be installed?

Only asking as I'm looking at one as they are cheap and i noticed my intake pipe being very hot to touch above the manifold area  :happy2:

Cheers

Yeah basically it comes with 2 nuts that go into where the holes that the rear cover gromets normally go into are. Its a perfect fit and I'm very pleased with it, as you said it does get very hot there and this definitely takes the edge off it.

Nothing new really but the car is booked in at AKS for a few bits.

H&R rear anti roll bar
Forge 6pot 356mm front brake kit
Braided rear hoses, caddy rear calipers, new pads and disc change (back to flat as the patterns front and rear won't match and it will bug me.
Forge coolant bottle
Forge washer bottle replacement
Fix a couple of bits.

Will get some pictures of the new calipers up when they're finally back from paint. Also got a new filter for the intake and some more heat tape for the bay coming.

So the Forge calipers finally came back from paint, took a while but they do look good. Got to coat them and then put the GTI decals on.

Forge catch can arrived from @Cooper so big thanks to him for very quick delivery and exactly as described. Although I realised my boost tap is in my PCV pipe so might only be able to use the washer bottle replacement which I wanted to do anyway to match the rest of the bay.

Nice looking calipers! I'm sure you can change your boost tap to the Forge boost tap that comes with the oil catch can. I now have a spare Forge boost tap since my oil catch can came with one and the Powervalve system uses a Forge boost tap too.

Thanks, yeah it really does seem dumb to only have one colour option however I suspect it probably saves them a few ££ (literally a few) which contributes to the fact the kit is (relatively) cheap. Considering most equivalent kits are £2k+.

Re: Dans grey MK5 GTI hybrid k03, tyre writing yes or no? short exhaust video.

Quick exhaust video on my Instagram, nice little pop a the end.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BAXpsTuLkit/

Was bored at work and had the pens (which I thought were white when I bought them  :rolleye:) so tried tyre writing just to see if it looked stupid or not as I've always quite liked tyre writing if done well.

Surprisingly I quite like it, I think its quite small relative to the tyre so doesn't stand out too much and the red goes with the rest of the car. Any opinions welcome as I'm well aware it won't be to everyone's tastes and I'm still not 100% sure myself, I've only done one side so I can see with and without to make a decision.

Exhaust sounds spot on. Nice burble without being ott!

Couldn't say either way for the tyres, it's something you'd probably have to see in the flesh to judge.

Yeah I've thought about it for a while but just got bored today and decided might as well try it.
